blonde.

i think i might dye the strands a nice buttery yellow again, meh why not ?

boyzzz.

i get so frustrated when i talk to him, i just wish he would set aside some time to talk to me face to face. i just want to meet someone that will make me feel somewhat even close to how i used to feel. someone who makes me want to learn things and make things. someone who has something to share, but also doesn't make it too easy - who keeps me guessing. maybe just anything to keep my mind off of him not wanting me.

i know as soon as i start at Noted things will begin to look up - i wont sit here all day and regret the past two years/

the effin heart on my wrist just like his is a constant reminder - ugggh.

prints.

cruising the interweb this morning, i found dutch artist pietari posti. his prints are very accessible but with a somber undertone. commissions for publications such as NYtimes, NYmagazine, SEED, Dwell and Insound in addition to personal works are really very appealing.

on the right, a project for Whaleless and Greenpeace Italty - this one is my favorite out of the bunch.

below, a print from a NYtimes Science article about first year medical students facing death.

here, illustrations for NewScientist about three differing theories on the begining of our universe. these are the most abstract that posti has presented and they really stand out on their own.

lastly, some sketches from posti's online sketchbook;

these black and white sketches are great, i love how charming they are without being too cutesy or whimsical. the combinations from page to page make them assorted works that could stand on their own.

brooklyn photoblog.

this is nice, seriously excited!

furniture for now.

an amazing website introduction page: leif designpark with some breathtaking pieces;

a functional armchair that is reminiscent of budding plant-life, not to over-the-top looking. tsubomi chair

the bench to the right is perfect in a more professional space, the relationship between the object, the plant and the person sitting would make a very harmonious one. lin pod bench

the couch to the left its a little more whimsical than the other pieces in the collection. inspired by nature and japanese gardens, the plush base and the ash growing branches create a charming dichotomy. kukunochi couch

the OCD in me!

i want all three of these so bad, plus the website is amazing. studio manzano, seriously check those out. (i can't upload any photos because i can't download them from flash due to my lame work comp)

october 22nd - october 26th.

i have a week off in between when i leave the shithole (lehr) and start at NOTED. my ultimate plan is to go up to westchester and spend some quality time with mom, dad, and dog.

i would also like to get these things done:

  1. scan all polariods ever taken
  2. get a haircut
  3. take lots of polariods of fall foliage
  4. spend lots of time with lana iguana
  5. smoke weeds in the woods
  6. take some long walks with puppy man
  7. avoid starbucks entirely
  8. see jesse at purchase
  9. get some cooking lessons from mom
  10. buy lots of cheap beer & bring it back to bk.
i have a good feeling that i will be starting a new chapter in my life very soon, i just wish i was happy with other parts. i sincerely miss sean and how he made me feel, i miss being in love and so swept off my feet. its fall and its crisp and beautiful, this time of year is always the worst for me without someone i love - but i feel stuck. stuck in this liminal stage where i know im not ready for it, but i want it so bad. i want to meet people and be excited, siiiigh.

no really, thank goodness for my amazing lady friends.

nothing really.

this week has gone pretty fast, and then only one more week at this shithole job. i get paid on monday so that means maybe tattoo's next week. i am thinking that the flowers arn't going to work with my M thats already on my lower bicep (muscles, ha). what i have come across, and hope to alter a bit are these:

i really love the one on the left, with some edits to the details irrupting from her head - but i hate the colors and would change them to black and white, grey and light blue. on the other hand, i like the owl's outstretched wings.

i cannot find the website i stole these from at the moment, but i think these images are exactly what i was looking for. i find it hard sometimes, because i know i have a picture in my head, but it never comes out right when i try to get my hands to draw.

anyway, i've been reading all of these park slope and gowanus blogs, the one that best covers my area is the gowanus lounge. some of the posts are hysterical, as well as informational. the posts about the blunts being constantly smoked on someone's block is entertaining considering it is very reminiscent of our block every night. in addition, i am also fond of only the blog knows brooklyn.

yesterday was my father's birthday and it was wonderful to be home in the (finally) cool fall air. we had birthday cake and i got to hang out with my puppy man. later, lana came over and we smoked and talked in my room for two hours as usual. it was nice, im suped for my week off to spend back in westchester.

so THIS WEEKEND - well, sunday - is the 'gowanus harvest festival' at the yard on carroll street, right around the block from us. i am looking forward to the beer tasting, pumpkin carving and bon fire action. what else is up for friday and saturday?

YE$

i got the job at Noted !! starting october 29th. thank goodness.

here is an artist that i am newly in love with. the aesthetic is something that i aspire to, i love all of his whimsical creations. christopher bettig is a french artist who works with both product development, fine arts, graphics and media instillation. THE MOUNTAIN LABEL.

below are a few of my favorites:

from the 2004 solo show he's a mountain of a man at the 4x4 gallery in LA.

to the right is one of the mountain label's retail art installations of interpretations of the meaning of "speed." Chris took over 400 photographs of light while in motion.
(excerpt from website)

from the show, there will never be any other time and place. i love these chickies, i want to get them as filler on my eventual half sleeve.

i love the details on this little guy, they are so charming.

some tunes.

the newest shins album has a great song on it called, red rabbit. the album has great artwork and the website is really creatively compiled - and you can view video's in their media section. i would also recommend checking out their image gallery, there are some really nice photo booth shots (the different one's with the four photo's arranged in a square, like i have experienced only in canada.)

ALSO: i really love this Japanther video//

check it out.

glass half full.

first. BKNY printshop didn't offer me nearly enough money to function and pay rent so i had to turn them down - BUT i had an interview with Noted*

it was a great interview, the owner and i sat there for an hour just talking about design, objects, products, trade shows etc. the office is in DUMBO, in a beautiful building filled with artist studios and galleries. i am going back on thursday to meet the rest of the team, which is a total of four people. some of my favorite products from Noted are:

a plantarium single vile for growing greenery. they are produced by Globus, and named plantarium garden lab kits which come in different sizes, shapes and colors.

titled, doomed. one of many by saka karakuri that are moving paper constructables - all versions are so endearing.

a diorama by tatebanko which comes as a kit that you put together. they are so very simple and pretty.

these are hole-on ex make and shoot pinhole camera's. these self constructed cameras that take instantly intriguing photos with just enough distortion to look artsy without much effort. in addition, they also have a great camera facade that is somewhere between 80's shapes and colors and a toy from the future.

in general, i hope this all works out - i would love to get my creative brain juices going again, giving imput on package design and product acquisition.

keep your fingers crossed for me, more later about diana fayt

im fucking alone again - this time it was out of my hands, or maybe just ripped out of my hands.

its just one huge let down after another these days. first, mikey contracts some sort of split personality disorder and starts to despise me for absolutely no reason. after a month of a really fun, perfect sort of relationship - his heart iced over and was inexcusably mean to me. so i had to kick him out of our house. i went through a whole year of being strung along, walked all over and hurt for no reason - i wasn't about to let it happen again in my own apartment.

so this is usually when i panic, and go running back to sean. i can't do that to myself over and over again. im so pathetically in love with him when i know all he wants from me is sexx, i just can't handle it at this point in my life. i am glad that he is on tour now though, when he is so close i feel helpless and i can't shake it.

then, to add fuel to the fire, the job at R20th century fell through. three fucking interviews and they still gave the position to someone else. i am 100% totally heart broken. my effin dream job just given away to someone with probably a lot less passion.

i literally JUST got a call from BKNYprinting - they wanted to offer me the position. which includes taking orders, deciphering customer requests, and rendering designs for production forms. and its two blocks from my house, the only thing is that it is a lot less money. but i dont know, we'll see.

i might jump out this 11th floor window today, keep in touch.

9.20.2007

finally fall.

so this whole lack of a digital camera, lack of a scanner thing is sort of inconvenient - ill scan some of my polariods asap, the digital will have to wait until next paycheck. there are a few things to catch up on;

first, i have my third interview with R20th Century Design Gallery to be the gallery assistant and attendant - meeting the owners. keep your fingers crossed.

next, i finally took some quick shots of my room:also, i ordered a black and white version of warhol's elvis for our living room because we still currently have nothing up on the walls and our newly spray painted black corner shelf will be going up in the kitchen tonight

finally, i got my bike fixed and ill be picking it up tonight 50 dollars later, but the whole thing was free otherwise so i really shouldnt be complaining.

finally, i think i am in love with these illustrations:

i like her; Camilla Engman

charming.

i found this site yesterday, artist / illustrator natsuko seki.

i love them all, so hard to pick. also, here are a postcard for brighton airport & 7inch packaging;

the BEST part natsko's creations are the short animations, HERE.
(my favorite is the first one, autumn sound tour)

ink !

so i've decided what type of design i want to finish out my arm and make a half sleeve. my inspiration is coming from arabia ceramics which are based in finland - harking back to my norwegian heritage.

the artist to credit here would be Esteri Tomula.

it seems to appropriate that i would cover myself in vintage ceramic design, doesn't it?

so.

i found some great stuff today (screen printed hand towels & such) but im too lazy and upset about my phone to post anything intelligent. i also need to do a couple of album reviews on here, mmm.

soon though.

lovely others.

oh i got a sweet sweet significant other.
now we can make excuses not to hang out with anyone else.

im becoming more and more excited for montreal, picked up my passport last night. i would love to do some serious vintage shopping and picture taking - plus some quality inebriated time. the excitement of feeling far away is starting to make me anxious.

i know im more ocd than most others, but is it that much to ask to take care of the very place we all live? i cannot overcome the feeling of having to straighten up to clean when things get out of order in my own apartment. i feel frustrated if it's left and i come back to it, and even worse letting it sit there and wait for the perpetrator to fix the problem - but i end up playing mom & im not into it.
